On America's day of Independence, the village headed down the Charles River towards MIT, where we gathered in front of the famed Killian Court. There, we had a perfect vantage point for the grand fireworks. The show elicited a truly visceral reaction from all those gathered, as for 25 minutes, the sky was showered in bursts of light. We decided to walk back together, and walked parallel to the Charles while chanting patriotic American (and British songs for our Emmanuel Fellows) songs. As you can imagine, the concept of American Independence ensured jibes between the Americans and British, but all in good fun. All in all, it was a truly beautiful day. Happy birthday America!
